After drilling his platoon in the hot sun, the sergeant barked out a final order: "All right, you idiots, fall out!" The men dispersed, but one rookie stood firm. The sergeant stared as the rookie smiled and said, "There sure were a lot of them, weren't there, Sergeant?

A man returned to his dentist complaining. "Doctor," he said, "the steel plate you put in my mouth six months ago is bothering me." The dentist took one look at the plate and saw that it was corroded all the way through. "Tell me," he said, "have you changed your diet since I saw you last?" "Well," said the man, "actually about five months ago my wife made me some vegetables with an exquisite yellow sauce on top. I've asked for it with almost every meal- breakfast, lunch, and dinner since then. I can't get enough of it. She calls it hollandaise sauce." "Ah," said the dentist, "then the replacement plate we put on today will be out of chrome." "Chrome," said the man, "why chrome? I thought that was for truck fenders." "Well," said the dentist, "it's quite simple. Everybody knows there's no plate like chrome for the hollandaise."
